I received my ECE Certificate from Capilano College in 1989. I started at St. Catherine’s in 2009.
St. Catherine’s is an amazing preschool, and I am happy to be working here. The teachers are fantastic, filled with kindness and laughter. They have very creative and interesting programing ideas for the classrooms. And, the families at St. Catherine’s are a great bunch. There is such a loving and caring community here and it is a joy to come to work each day.

DEVELOPMENTAL RESOURCE
EDUCATOR & DIRECTOR
I have been at St. Catherine’s for 25 years. I am the Developmental Resource Educator / Director. I received my Early Childhood Educator’s Certificate from Langara in 1981. My Infant Toddler certificate in 1984 and my Special Needs Certificate in 1995.
I love working at St Catherine’s because I value the commitment of my colleagues to our “Learning Through Play” philosophy. Everyone comes prepared each day ready to offer all the children a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn and play. Being an inclusive play-based centre is very important to me as I have spent most of my career working with children who require extra support.

I have worked at St. Catherine’s since 2005. I completed my Associate Diploma in Social Science (Childcare) in Australia in 1994. In January 1995 I returned to Vancouver to work with children and added to my training with Infant and Toddler ECE. In 1996, I returned to Australia to start my family and completed a degree in Social Science and Community Studies. I came back to Vancouver in 2004 and started at St Catherine’s in 2005.
I believe children learn through play which allows them to develop their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills in an environment that is safe, nurturing, and inclusive. -
Karen
My introduction to St. Catherine’s Pre-School was as a parent back in 2005. All three of my children attended. I was that parent that would hang around too long and chat with the teachers. When my daughter Amanda finished in the 4’s, I was very sad to say goodbye. But it was not goodbye but the beginning of a new career. I attended Capilano University in 2012. Over the years, I have enjoyed meeting new families and being part of such a wonderful place to work. St. Catherine’s Preschool is a place for children to discover themselves and make friends, all while learning along the way and not even knowing it.

I was born and raised in the Fiji Islands and moved with my family to Toronto in 1987. I completed my Early Childhood Education in Toronto before moving to Vancouver in 1995. I have worked as an ECE teacher for over 30 years.
It is a pleasure to work at St. Catherine’s Preschool. I find it very rewarding to teach children in a nurturing environment where they are engaged in learning through play. A play-based environment is very important for preschoolers. It is through play that children learn about themselves and the world around them. I look forward to every fun-filled year with the children. -

After growing up in North Vancouver, I attended UBC and did a degree in Special Education. I then moved to Scotland where I lived for 27 years raising three boys. I did my ECE training in Scotland working in Playgroups, Nurseries, and an Outdoor Kindergarten. I’ve been at St. Catherine’s for 6 years. I appreciate my colleagues’ dedication to the children in our care, combined with a great capacity for fun.

(Currently on leave.)
I came to St. Catherine’s as a practicum student to complete by post basis training in Special Needs Education. I received my ECE Certificate in 2015 and my Special Needs Certificate in 2016. I worked at St. Catherine’s from 2017 to 2019 then left on maternity leave. I work in the Discovery 2s on Mondays and Wednesdays. To me, St. Catherine’s means good friends, who are supportive, and I am always learning from their vast experience with children. -

I have recently started working at St. Catherine’s Childcare Society. I have six years of experience in Early Childhood Education.
My educational background is in physics, which gives me a unique perspective on child development and learning. I also have certificates in ECE, Infant and Toddler care, and Special Needs support.
I live here with my family, and I’m passionate about connecting with children and helping them to grow. I believe children are our most valuable assets, shaping our society’s future. Guiding and nurturing them is not only personally fulfilling but also benefits everyone. I’m thrilled to be a part of St. Catherine’s Preschool, where children can learn and explore through play. It is a fantastic nurturing environment, and I’m excited to contribute positively here.
