As part of our ongoing commitment of fostering a sense of community, empathy, and understanding in our preschool, we would like to invite you to participate in a special activity in honor of Truth and Reconciliation Day.
Truth and Reconciliation Day, which falls on Sept. 30th, is an important day in Canada where we collectively reflect on the history and experiences of Indigenous peoples, acknowledge the truth of their experiences, and work towards reconciliation. It is a day to promote dialogue, education, and understanding, even at a young age.
To commemorate this significant day, we are planning a simple activity at our preschool that revolves around sharing and coming together. We kindly ask that each child bring in a piece of fruit THIS Thursday (26th) and Friday (27th) morning. These fruits will be used to create a shared Friendship fruit salad during our snack times. The act of sharing something meaningful like a piece of fruit helps our young learners understand the value of unity, cooperation, and community.
You are also welcome to send your child in an orange T-shirt on these days!
